Chaired by Carl A H Martin, on Wednesday, 19 January, the panel “The Older Person's Guide to Getting into Production” was dedicated mostly to the collaboration and the attitude between the younger generations entering the industry towards the more experienced once, the mentoring process, the need for better understanding compared to competing, and mostly tackling the question: is the industry prepared to offer a proper seat at the table for young people. Banana&Salt partners with AKUA NARU for the upcoming Eastern European shows in 2022!
Akua Naru is a Hip Hop artist, organizer, producer, activist, and scholar, whose work centers social justice advocacy and community building. Her music, deeply nuanced, poetic and wise, theorizes the myriad experiences of Black women through rhyme along a sonic spectrum from Jazz to Soul. She is co-founder of the production/management company, The Urban Era, and, to date, has released four albums: “...the journey aflame (2011)”, “Live & Aflame Sessions (2012)”, “The Miner’s Canary (2015)”, and “The Blackest Joy (2018)”--alongside a wide range of additional artistic content.
She has recorded with Tony Allen, Eric Benét, Angelique Kidjo, Tuneyards, Questlove, Georgia Anne Muldrow, Christian Scott, Rah Digga, Mulatu Astatke, Bernard Purdie, Cody ChesnuTT, and more.
Akua has performed hundreds of shows in more than fifty countries across five continents with her 6-piece band. She has been an invited lecturer at Harvard, Oxford, Cornell, Princeton, Brown, Fordham, University of Cologne (Germany), Ahfad University for Women (Sudan), and Pivot Point College (China), among countless others.
With a record of hundreds of concerts spanning across continents and a star - studded list of features and collaborators (Lauryn Hill, Busta Rhymes, Talib Kweli, Christian Scott, Eric Benét, Bernard Purdie, Tony Allen) combined, The Ruff Pack and Akua Naru are a sonic force to contend with.
Their most recent project, a collaborative album with Akua Naru, entitled “The Black Magnificent”, is set for the Spring 2022 release. The forthcoming album speaks to their understandings of music as sonic activism: a call to action, a soothing balm during bleak and difficult times.

At the first sold-out concert (28. Oct.), of the two arranged at KSET, Ida Prester filled the space not only with fans but also with her infectious positive energy. Ida Prester and Lollobrigida truly won a double victory of their spirit the second concert night, on the 30th October, with a skill that is usually the invisibly fragile in the artist that is so easily prone to decline. To truly own what you are and what you are able to do, is what makes the artist bigger than the time they exist. Especially when the technique betrays. “Stella” vinyl by Ljubojna
"Stella" is the new eclectic Macedonian vinyl release that enters the “must have” category, with original music by Oliver Josifovski performed by Ljubojna. It bears the title after the feature film of the same name. This is the band's 13th album and second vinyl, and the first vinyl release with film music on the domestic market so far. "Karanfil Nevesto", is the main theme of the album, also followed by a video that was released recently.

Concert promoters and the audience agree: Morgane Ji, born on the island of Réunion, is one of the most extraordinary and talented female singers which you can currently "discover"! In front of the fully packed FUSION Stage at EXIT, Ida Prester together with Lollobrigida performed an unforgettable, loud and emotional show. The setlist consisted of Ida Prester’s hit singles released in the last two years and some of the greatest hits from Lollobrigida. This was one of the very first big shows after the quarantine and restrictions; the audience reaction and atmosphere was massive and something that will stay remembered as an amazing closing of the big comeback of the festival in 2021.

FUNK SHUI performed at ARSENAL Fest
24 june, at the opening of the first full capacity festival in 2021, FUNK SHUI brought their explosive show at the Garden Stage, for the first time in front of the Arsenal Festival audience. Their show was the first in the round of events planned for this summer, and they are actively booking regional appearances in the region. After winning the award “Song of the year” for Meteori by Balkanrock, and “Best fusion video” by Muzzik TV, their showtime on Arsenal in front of the serbian audience at 1 am was completely justified. The boys are back very soon!

After the successful round of single releases in the last 12 months “Šansa”, “Minuta”, “Dodir”, “Sad”, Ida continues with one more fresh summer release aiming to become an upcoming hit in the region. The song “Ljetna Ljubav” was released followed by a video premiere on July 1st and is available on all digital platforms.
